There are calls for standardised sex education to be taught across all primary schools in the region.
The Social Democrats has put forward a bill that would see the Department of Education set a sexual education curriculum that would be separate to any religious ethos.
It comes after concern was raised about how religion was being included into sexual and relationship education at some schools with a Catholic ethos.
Social Democrats TD Jennifer Whitmore told Shannonside Northern Sound there needs to be the same education given, regardless of what a school's ethos is.
