A local councillor is calling for an outside seating area to be established at Cavan General Hospital. According to Cllr Peter McVitty, the issue of no seating has been brought to his attention by concerned patients on a number of occasions.
As a result, the West Cavan representative has called on Cavan County Council to write to the management team of Cavan General Hospital and also the HSE over the matter. Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr McVitty said that a seating area is needed for patients who have "no other option" but to stand when wanting to get some fresh air.
He added that he "hopes" this situation will soon be rectified for the well-being of patients and their loved ones when visiting the local healthcare facility.
"Maybe there's a genuine reason for seating not being there," explained Cllr McVitty. "However, from the people and patients that I have spoken to, I know that they would be very happy to see a bit of seating outside the hospital entrance where they can come out and sit down, rest and get some fresh air, so I'm hoping that this can be dealt with as soon as possible."
