Zigimantas Gridziuska was a criminal with 42 convictions who should have been in prison.

The mother of Shane O'Farrell has called on all local TD's to support her and her family by backing calls for a public inquiry.

For almost 13 long years, Lucia and Jim O'Farrell have lived every parent's worst nightmare. In the summer of 2011, their beloved son, Shane, was left to die on the side of a Carrickmacross road

Despite their anguish and for more than a decade, the O'Farrell family has courageously fought for the truth about what happened to Shane that night. Zigimantas Gridziuska was a criminal with 42 convictions who should have been in prison when he knocked down Shane and left him to die. Lucia O'Farrell says serious questions as to how this man was not behind bars at that time remain unanswered to this very day.

She says the only route to the full truth and full justice is this full public inquiry, Speaking to Northern Sound, Lucia says the history books will judge local TD's that so not stand with her and support the O'Farrell family with allowing a public inquiry to take place.
