A Monaghan councillor has once more called on the Health Minister, Stephen Donnelly, to open the Minor Injury Unit in Monaghan General Hospital on a 24/7 basis, year-round.
Cllr Seamus Coyle passed a motion seeking Minister Donnelly to direct the HSE and the RCSI Hospital Group to oversee the opening hours extension in the local Minor Injury Unit.
Cllr Coyle added that this would ease pressure on Cavan General Hospital and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
Speaking at this morning's Monaghan County Council meeting, Cllr Coyle also called on support from local Oireachtas members and Minister Heather Humphreys.
The motion was passed unanimously.
