Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald has called again for an independent public inquiry into the death of Monaghan man Shane O'Farrell. She made the call while visiting Shane's home county last week. Deputy McDonald called on the new justice minister and the government to do the right thing. The Sinn Fein leader said herself and Deputy Matt Carthy has called for this inquiry for many years now following long long delays.
Mr O'Farrell who was 23, died after a hit and run incident by Zigimantas Gridziuska who was on bail and had 42 previous convictions, while he was out cycling his bike in August 2011. Previously Deputy Carthy told Northern Sound news that State agencies have "delayed" the O'Farrell family's access to justice for their son.
Speaking in Monaghan, Mary Lou McDonald called on the justice minister to act and act now on a public inquiry;
