Green party local election candidate in Castleblayney and Carrickmacross, Tate Donnelly, has called for a dog park to be developed in Castleblayney.
Tate Donnelly says that there is strong demand for such a park locally, citing the number of people using the dog park in Carrickmacross as evidence of the popularity of such an amenity.
The Green party candidate says there are many places in Castleblayney where people can bring their dogs for a walk but a designated, closed-off area for dog owners to allow their dogs off the lead would benefit both dog-owners and non-dog-owners alike.
The local man acknowledged that some local councillors have also advocated for a dog park in Castleblayney in recent times. Tate says a large number of people locally have highlighted to him that they would like to see a dog park developed in the town.
