Plans to close Kilnaleck Garda Station has been met with anger and backlash.
Cllr Trevor Smith bought a motion to Cavan County Council yesterday at their monthly meeting calling for for the full plans to be known.
The Fine Gael councillor called on the council to write immediately to Minister for Justice Helen McEntee and the Garda Commissioner Drew Harris to seek clarity into the situation.
Cllr Smith said he is working to get clarification into this matter.
Meanwhile, Cllr Shane P O'Reilly said as it stand's Kilnaleck Garda Station is no longer open to the public and in turn has been downgraded.
Cllr O'Reilly said first it was the loss of the bank, the loss of the post office, the loss of the credit union and the now the loss of the Garda station.
He said it was absolutely ridiculous to see this happen.
