The situation regarding CCTV availability for towns and villages across Cavan has been highlighted.
The issue was discussed at a recent sitting of Cavan County Council.
Cllr Clifford Kelly brought the motion to highlight the need for CCTV cameras to be operational in towns and villages across the region. He called on the new government to make the roll out of CCTV availability very much a priority and than pressure of the government was needed over this issue.
Cllr Kelly said himself and other councillors believe the monitoring of these cameras should be held in the local Garda Station. The Fianna Fail councillor said this would ensure access to Gardai at all times and would act as a further deterrent towards criminal activity.
