It's been warned that the cost of repairing vandalism at a Carrickmacross playground may have exceeded the cost of construction.
Councillors at a recent Carrickmacross-Castleblayney MD meeting were informed that €15,000 was spent last year on repair works at Cloughvalley Playground.
It's led to renewed calls for CCTV to be installed in the park.
Councillor PJ O'Hanlon raised concerns over "serious vandalism" at Cloughvalley Playground, saying "we are replacing equipment and it's getting ruined".
He added that a CCTV system for the park "always seems to be delayed" and passed a motion calling for the MD to install CCTV with their own resources if it isn't installed within the next six months.
Councillor O'Hanlon asked how much money was spent on broken equipment in the playground, and was informed by Director of Services, Paul Clifford, that €15,000 was spent on repairing acts of vandalism last year.
Mr Clifford said vandalism was focused on the toilets, with locks being cut and plumbing equipment being pulled out of the toilets.
Acting MD co-ordinator, Damien Thornton, told the meeting that there were five outstanding issues surrounding GDPR compliance around the CCTV.
He said work was being progressed on this and should be completed in the coming weeks.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound, Councillor O'Hanlon said the CCTV would hold the vandals to account:
