There are calls for CCTV cameras to be installed along the N2 to prevent motorists littering.
Currently, the volume of litter dumped means a litter pick on the Castleblayney by-pass is carried out four times a year.
At the most recent council meeting, Chief Executive of the council, Eamon O'Sullivan agreed it shouldn't need to be done so often, but said it would look worse if it wasn't done at all.
It was voted that the Council consider the proposal by Fine Gael's Aidan Campbell to install CCTV cameras to deter littering along the route.
He told Shannonside Northern Sound News there needs to be some harsher action taken.
