Cavan County Council has been called on to put in place measures to improve safety in Bailieborough.
Local Councillor Sarah O'Reilly called for a solution to be found, particularly at Market Square, as numerous incidents have taken place in recent years.
A report prepared for the local authority over 10 years ago said it could cost €200,000 for traffic lights at the junction as similar measures could also be needed in other parts of the town.
However, Councillor O'Reilly said there are other options like putting a one way system in place and making more use of the link road past Tesco.
