The Government has been called on to provide more funding to deal with flooding in Cavan and Monaghan.
TD Brendan Smith says most of the region isn't covered by the Arterial Drainage Act, meaning works to improve land for agriculture and to mitigate flooding don't take place.
He told the Dáil this means the county sees more flooding on smaller streams and rivers when compared with other areas.
Deputy Smith called for increased grant funding for works to be carried out, particularly around Cavan town.
