The CEO of the Beacon Hospital says the decision to administer vaccines to teachers at his children's private school was made under time pressure.
It's emerged that 20 teachers and staff at St Gerard's Catholic School in Wicklow were given "left over vaccines" on Tuesday.
The private hospital says 200 vaccines were left over and after liaising with the HSE to vaccinate additional staff, 20 doses still remained.
A decision was then made to give the vaccine to the teachers, who were able to get to the hospital in a short space of time.
