A local MD has recommended that Monaghan County Council undertake a public consultation on a new use for the Bank of Ireland building in Clones.
The Clones branch shut its doors earlier this month.
Sinn Féin councillor Pat Treanor passed the motion, which also called for a "dialogue" to be initiated with Bank of Ireland to "avoid long term vacancy and to find a beneficial use" for the building.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Councillor Treanor said the building could be ideal for remote working or for all-island bodies and called for the MD to be "ambitious" regarding possible uses:
