Business owners selling essential products in Carrickmacross will soon be allowed to put stalls outside their premises.
At the October meeting of the Carrickmacross-Castleblayney MD it was requested that in the interest of fairness any shop owners who have had to close because they sell items deemed non-essential in addition to essential ones can set up a stall outside similar to the street traders.
Director of Services confirmed that at present it is only street traders deemed ‘essential’ that still have their stalls, but they were willing to allow shops to do the same provided they don’t interfere with accessibility on the streets.
Sinn Féin’s Noel Keelan said that he had asked for this previously as he feels it would help local business in the run up to Christmas.
