The campaign to get Garth Brooks to visit County Monaghan has gained traction with the Cathaoirleach lending his support.
Castleblayney Councillor Aoife McCooey started the #BrooksToBlayney initiative in an effort to get the country legend to visit the town known as 'the home of Irish country music'.
Brooks is playing the final two nights of his sell-out five night stay in Croke Park at the weekend, and has been spotted visiting a number of tourist destinations in his down time.
Castleblayney is known as the 'Nashville of Ireland' and is the home to Big Tom and Paddy Cole among others.
Yesterday, Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council Sean Conlon visited the Big Tom statue with Councillor McCooey to extend the invite on behalf of the county.
