Voting is continuing for the local and European elections, and the country's first directly elected Lord Mayor.
Polls opened at 7 am and close at 10 pm, with people being reminded to bring some form of photo ID when they go to vote. 949 seats need to be filled on local councils across Ireland, while 14 MEP's will be elected to the European Parliament.
As of 2.30pm turnout is now up on 25% in the Carrickmacross urban area. In Cavan as of the midday turnout was at 11% in St Clare's National School in Cavan Town, 12% at Ballyconnell Central National School , 8% at
Mountnugent National School and 11% at St Anne's National School in Bailieborough. Polling numbers in Sherlock stands at round 13%, While up on 20% have turned out as of midday in Belturbet. As of 12.45pm 24% has turned out to vote in Mullagh In Co Monaghan meanwhile, at half 12 this afternoon 12% was recorded in Clones. 12 and a half percent was recorded in Castleblayney at 12.30pm. At the same time 10% was recorded in Monaghan Town.
As of 3pm turnout at St Clare's NS, Cavan 19% Ballyconnell Central NS 23% Mountnugent NS 13% St Anne's NS Bailieborough 20%.
