The mother of Paul Quinn who was brutally murdered in Co Monaghan back in 2007 has called for a full televised apology from Sinn Fein's Conor Murphy. Her comments come after Sinn Fein announced that Conor Murphy who is the current economy minister in the North will contest the upcoming elections to Seanad Éireann.
Just weeks after Paul Quinn's death, the Sinn Fein MLA claimed that he had been involved in criminal activity. While Minister Murphy has since apologised for making those comments, and condemned the murder of Paul Quinn, his mother Breege believes such efforts are "not good enough." Speaking on this morning's Joe Finnegan Show, Breege has called on Minister Murphy to come out and apologise to them on national television.
Mrs Quinn explained; "It wasn't a full apology. He said he didn't know why he said what he said at the time. It took him 13 years to say that and that's not what we'd call an apology. He didn't come out and say I'm sorry for what I said, Paul was not a criminal and I'm sorry for the hurt that I've caused you."
