Gardaí are currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian that occurred at 10:45pm last night outside Clones. The accident which happened on the Newbliss Road at Clonavilla resulted in the death of a woman in her 70s. She was pronounced dead at the scene and removed for post mortem examination.
The R183 at Clonavilla is currently closed and local diversions are in place. Meanwhile, Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage - including dash-cam - and were travelling on the Newbliss Road (R183) in the Clonavilla area between 10pm and 11pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
