A young boy has been hospitalised following a collision that occurred in Carrickmacross yesterday evening.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene involving a car and a pedestrian, which occurred on the R179 between the Ardee Rd junction and the Dundalk Rd roundabout. The collision happened shortly before 6.30 pm yesterday evening which resulted in the closure of the road close to the town centre. The pedestrian who was an 11 year old boy, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, for treatment for serious but non life threatening injuries.
Local Gardaí say investigations are currently ongoing.
