The International Fund for Ireland has announced €1.2m in funding to support to a range of projects across Northern Ireland and the southern border counties.
Storytellers of Ireland and Armstrong Storytelling Trust has been allocated €89,655 to deliver a one year 'Border Talk' Project across the five counties of Armagh, Cavan, Fermanagh, Monaghan and Tyrone.
Storytellers of Ireland promotes and fosters the oral tradition of storytelling with the key aim of making the ancient practise a contemporary art within all age groups and cultural backgrounds across the island of Ireland.
Border Talk will deliver cross-border, cross-community storytelling events and training programmes; encourage people to share their own stories from different backgrounds; and encourage reconciliation among border communities.
IFI Chair Paddy Harte said this latest funding injection comes at a critical time and will benefit many communities. He pointed out that Peace building work with those who are often hardest to reach has never been more important.
Mr Harte added that those involved in the projects work tirelessly - often in a very difficult climate - to engage with those who have not felt the benefits of the Peace Process.
