Largy College in Clones will open a book of condolences this morning for 17-year-old Kiea McCann and 16-year-old Dlava Mohamed. The best friends lost their lives in a fatal road traffic collision on Monday evening as they made their way to the school debs.
The Book will open to the public from 9am to 1pm. Meanwhile, principal, Sharon McGennis described the girls as 'cherished members' of the school community. She added that Dlava was a "gorgeous soul who radiated goodness" and Kiea was a "friendly, kind and warm-hearted girl", who always demonstrated a willingness to support others.
The National Educational Psychological Service is currently providing support to staff at Largy College and to the wider school community. The Department of Education says the service will continue to provide the necessary supports and help over the coming weeks and months.
A spokesperson added that when a tragic event happens, NEPS is available to advise those who work with students and who know them well.
