Members on the Gowlan group water scheme near Blacklion are on a boil water notice following recent storm damage.
Trees which fell on power lines, during storm Isha rendered the water treatment plant inoperable from Tuesday.
As a result, water supply to 220 households is not fit for human consumption and at present people are being advised to boil the water from their taps until further notice. Local councillor John Paul Feeley's home is on the Gowlan scheme. He also serves on the group water scheme's committee. He said the Gowlan's caretaker and other members of the scheme have been working tirelessly to get water back to taps and they now have a generator working round the clock.
However, it will be some time before the ESB can restore electricity to Gowlan and in the meantime, while water works its way through the treatment plant, people should continue to boil it before use.
