Archbishop Noël Treanor's remains is travelling from Dublin to Belfast this afternoon and will be travelling through County Monaghan.
The body of the late Monaghan native and former Bishop of Down and Connor will make a brief stop at St Macartan's Cathedral, Monaghan.
Archbishop Treanor passed away last Sunday at the age of 73. Archbishop Treanor was the current Apostolic Nuncio to the European Union following his appointment by Pope Francis to the role in 2022.
The Tyholland native returned from Rome after further studies and served in Monaghan, Rackwallace and Enniskillen for a time.
Archbishop Noël's remains will depart Dublin Airport today at approximately 12.45pm to travel via M1, N2 (Carrickmacross and Castleblayney/Clontibret By-passes), R213 (Castleshane to Middletown Road via Garron) and N12 (Monaghan-Armagh Road) through Tyholland.
His remains will be arriving at St.Macartans Cathedral Grounds and pausing for a few moments as a mark of respect.
The cortège will rejoin the N2 at Coolshannagh Roundabout passing Corracrin and onward to Ballygawley roundabout joining the M1 to Belfast.
