An investigation has been launched after the engine was stolen off a boat used for search and rescue work.
Gardaí launched an investigation following the theft which is believed to have taken place in the Carrickmacross area between Sunday the 9th and Saturday the 15th of May.
The Mercury 100 break horse power engine was taken from the boat, which was stored in a yard at Aghafad, Killanny. Gardaí say it's used by divers who carry out search and rescue work.
The boat engine is described as an expensive unit to replace as it will impact on the service provided by the group. Anyone with information is asked to contact Carricmacross Garda Station on 042-9690190.
