52-year-old Denis Neary was found unresponsive with serious injuries at his home in the west Cavan village at 9:15pm yesterday.

A man in his 30s is being detained and questioned in Castlerea Garda Station in Co Roscommon.

Gardai are carrying out door-to-door enquiries throughout this morning.
