The Bishop of Clogher says the message from Pope Francis in relation to gay marriage this week is 'nothing new'.
Bishop Larry Duffy says that the document published on Monday which sustained a ban on same-sex blessings is the same line that has always been rolled out by the Catholic Church and is not surprising.
He says that the distinction for the church has always been that marriage is a sacrament between man and woman and a union between same sex couples is not the same as the sacramental one.
However, he did acknowledge that the document lacked emotion and a human element.
