A case of bird flu has been detected on a farm in County Cavan.
It was found in a turkey flock in the Butlersbridge area yesterday.
Further testing is being carried out to determine the pathogenicity of the virus, and depopulation of the flock will take place on foot of these results.
This is the fourth case of avian influenza detected within commercial flocks in the Republic of Ireland this year, following three outbreaks of the highly pathogenic H5N1 strain on Monaghan farms.
A turkey farm, a broiler flock and 100,000-strong egg laying production have been culled as a result of outbreaks in the county.
An outbreak at an Aughnacloy duck farm also led to protection and surveillance zones extending into north Monaghan.
The Department of Agriculture and IFA are renewing calls for increased biosecurity to prevent the spread of the virus into further farms.
