As part of National Biodiversity Week, Monaghan County Council has organised a list of events which will take place across the county. At the helm of organising this annual event is Biodiversity Officer for Monaghan County Council, Patricia McCreesh. Kicking things off today, Patricia will lead a nature walk in Inniskeen along the Fane River.
According to Patricia, the group will take a look at insects living in river, along with other insects and plants along the river. Speaking to Northern Sound, Patricia said that this week as a whole is a "great opportunity" for people to get "up close and personal" with all things biodiversity.
"Biodiversity week shines a light on a range of biodiversity topics such as birds, bats, bees and everything in between," Patricia explained. "It gives the public a chance to experience different events which are free to attend and the vast majority of them are accessible to every member of the public. It's a great chance to see things that you might not see on any other week of the year.
