One occasion is very much set in the yearly calendar of the town of Clones and that's the Bikers' Memorial. The annual event will take place this Friday in the Sacred Heart Church, Clones at 8pm. Since it's inception, back in 2003, the Bikers' Memorial has grown in numbers and in reputation. This year, the BBC across all its regions, will show their audience how bikers come together to help and support their friends going through the pain of a sudden bereavement. Brian MacUaid is the PRO of the Bikers' Memorial Committee.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Brian has encouraged people from all backgrounds to visit Clones this Friday. "It's very important to stress that while it is a very dark subject matter, the aim is to always have people leave the Sacred Heart Church in Clones feeling a wee bit better about themselves and life. For those in attendance it's a chance to chat with people who possibly knew their loved one who has since passed and it shows people that their loved one has not been forgotten about, they're still remembered and maybe people will go home with a few stories from the good times that they can bring with them."
The memorial takes place this Friday, May 3rd in the Sacred Heart Church, Clones at 8pm. It will include the usual stunning display bikes, six in total, on the altar of the Clones Church. There will be candles bearing the names of deceased bikers, these will be carried to the altar by family members. It will also have the three Gone But Not Forgotten plaques with the names and photographs of hundreds of bikers who’ve sadly lost their lives since the early 1980’s. Crowds are once again expected to be big, and the committee advises that patrons wishing to have a seat in the chapel should come early.
