Cavan Councillors have been told that it is "beyond the operation capacity" of the Council to add more roads to its current road salting network.
At a recent Bailieborough-Cootehill MD meeting, Carmel Brady asked for the Bunnoe Road, from Redhills to Cootehill, to be added to the current road salting list.
She told the meeting that post office delivery staff won't travel on the road during cold spells, and added that Local Link and School Bus drivers have similar safety concerns.
MD Area Manager Alan Lyons said 20% of the county's road network is salted and added that the county "doesn't have the resources to extend" this.
While he said there is the ability to extend it during "prolonged" cold spells, he added that national roads will be prioritised and that they do not have "operational capacity" to add roads to its current salting route.
