Staff and students from St Aidan's Comprehensive School in Cootehill are putting their best foot forward in a bid to raise essential funds for a new gym facility. A number of fundraising initiatives have been organised by the school community, with Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue offering a helping hand with the school's Malin to Mizen head bike challenge this week.
With the target of €35,000 almost at touching distance, the local school is calling on members of the public and local businesses to "dig deep" one final time. Speaking to Northern Sound, St Aidan's teacher Eoin Lennon highlighted the importance of sport and exercise when it comes to a young person's mental health. It is hoped that works on the fitness suite will start before summer in order to be ready for students and the wider Cootehill community by September.
