After Bernie married Pauric and moved to Scotstown where they ran a poultry and dairy farm, she became an integral part of the community.

The funeral of community and GAA stalwart, Bernie Sherry, takes place today. She was well-known during her time running a pub with her husband and family in Rockorry and as treasurer of Truagh Gaels GAA.

After Bernie married Pauric and moved to Scotstown where they ran a poultry and dairy farm, she became an integral part of her new community promoting scór and working tirelessly as health and wellbeing officer at the GAA club. Bernie really came into her own when she started the "Make your Céilí" scheme and was often seen with her red teapot as she visited people living on their own during the pandemic and long after..

The 54-year-old mother of two will be laid to rest in her adopted home of Scotstown with funeral mass at 12 noon in St Mary's Church, Urbleshanny. Burial afterwards will be in the adjoining cemetery. Mark Mullen is a friend and one of the many people Bernie talked into doing things for the community. He told Northern Sound she will be sorely missed: "Bernie will be sadly missed by all, " Mark told Northern Sound, "For myself, on a personal note, it has been a privilege and an honour to be able to count Bernie as one of my close friends."
