Planters and benches have been installed around the Big Tom statue in Castleblayney.
The statue was unveiled by President Michael D Higgins in 2018 but it had been closed to the public for a long period since.
Concerns around the stability of the neighbouring Market House led the County Council to cordon off the area. The area reopened to the public last year after structural works.
The local Municipal District this week installed public benches and planters in the area around the statue.
