A Co Cavan woman who met Pope Francis with her family in 2018 has described recent health updates released by the Vatican as "hopeful." The Vatican is reporting that Pope Francis slept well overnight, and an official statement issued yesterday noted that the pontiff had resumed some of his work.
Although his condition is still described as "critical" Brenda Drumm Tobin from Belturbet says recent updates on his health offer a "glimmer of hope." With confirmation that the Pope received Eucharist yesterday, resumed some of his duties, whilst making night time calls to the Parish Priest in Gaza, Brenda says these are all "encouraging" and "hopeful" signs. Speaking to Northern Sound, Brenda paid tribute to the resilience of Pope Francis, stating that "he's the Pope that our church and world has needed and continues to need at this time."
Brenda continued; "He's just a lovely person, that might sound like a very strange thing to say when you're talking about someone whose a global leader but he's very endearing, very down to earth and very warm. I found him to have a great sense of humour, as someone who has been through illness, I always find that a sense of humour is very important when dealing with difficult situations of health. Pope Francis is robust and obviously a man of great faith, and he has quite a sig number of people around the world praying for him and never underestimate the power of prayer."
