A new Belturbet Tidy Towns group has been set up in the past few weeks and the group are on the hunt for more volunteers to get involved. 25 people from the community have already got involved in the local tidy towns group but more are needed.
Brendan Fay is the treasurer of the newly formed group.
Speaking to Northern Sound, he highlighted the importance of Tidy Towns groups in the community and how beneficial it can be for members to get involved. He added that the local group hopes to compete in the national Tidy Towns competition in the years ahead.
"I have always found the Tidy Towns initiative to be very important for local communities," explained Brendan. "It really gels the community and brings about a bond. It's something that we've previously talked about but we would love to join the Tidy Towns All-Ireland competition at some stage in the future."
