An Bord Pleanála rejected the appeal against the construction of 10 houses and granted permission for the development.

An appeal against the construction of 10 houses in Belturbet has been rejected by An Bord Pleanála. Cavan County Council initially granted planning to Mark Lawlor for the construction of the development at Widow's House Lane in the town. An appeal was lodged against the proposed houses, arguing that the addition of 10 houses constitutes an overdevelopment of the area.

It also stated that the site would have a detrimental impact on public open space and parking, and would put strain on a road network already congested by serving four local schools. An Bord Pleanála rejected the appeal and granted permission for the development, but did issue a number of revised conditions. These conditions include that the development be reduced from 10 units to 8 with provisions for an open public space, and that obscure glazing be used for all toilets and en suites.
