Consumers are being told to prepare for a jump in the price of beef over the next few weeks. The price drop is expected as supplies fail to meet demand.
The number of cows available for processing in the first half of the year is predicted to drop, with the IFA reporting base prices of €6 euro a kilo being offered to farmers. It's thought the price increase could be passed onto the consumer in supermarkets and restaurants.
