Beech Hill College in Monaghan Town has been given the green light to go to tender for a substantial extension to the school facilities. The news was confirmed to Senator Robbie Gallagher by Education Minister Norma Foley's office. The new facilities will consist of 6 general classrooms, 4 resource rooms, 1 multimedia room, 1 woodwork room/prep area and project store, 2 science rooms and prep area, 3 SEN based classrooms, ancillary accommodation and ball courts. Speaking to Northern Sound, Senator Gallagher said he was "delighted" with the news.
Senator Gallagher paid tribute to the school principal, teaching staff, board of management, parents and staff from the Cavan/Monaghan ETB for their work in getting this latest development to fruition.
"This is testament to the principal and the entire school team who have been doing an excellent job," said Senator Gallagher. "Thankfully all our schools are doing exceptionally well at the moment here in Monaghan and great credit is due to the staff that work in our schools and we're delighted for them and the parents whose children attend these schools. This is fantastic for the town and for Beech Hill College this is a significant extension to the school premises and is testament to the excellent work that is being carried out there by teaching staff and the entire school team at Beech Hill College."
