The Ballyjamesduff Local Link Service has gone to tender according to Deputy Niamh Smyth.
She says she has received word from the NTA that the new route has gone to tender and will service Cavan Town, Ballyjamesduff, Virginia and Kells. This has been a long running issue going back to 2019 when The campaign group set up collected 1400 signatures which Deputy Smyth at the time presented to the Minister for Transport seeking the provision of a new route.
They lobbied the TD for the service citing Ballyjamesduff's rural location in the middle of Cavan and the need for local people to have transport to the county town for everything from doctor appointments and shopping to getting access to their local council offices. Deputy Smyth told Northern Sound she has just received "a very positive response" from the NTA.
