A Ballyjamesduff councillor says the new €1.5 million fire station in the town will be a great boost for firefighters in the region.
Cavan County Council received approval yesterday to proceed with the construction of the state-of-the-art, two-bay fire station which will be located at Derrylurgan, Rassan Road, in Ballyjamesduff.
Fine Gael’s Trevor Smith said he was delighted to see the project given the green light.
He added that the old station wasn’t fit for purpose and says work on the new station could start as soon as April of this year.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Councillor Trevor Smith praised the Ballyjamesduff firefighters who have had to work in “bad conditions over the past number of years”:
