Ballyhaise in Co Cavan recorded its highest temperature ever during the month of July.
According to a Climate Statement released by Met Éireann for July 2022, Ballyhaise recorded a top temperature of 30.8 degrees, confirming that the weather has been much drier and hotter than previous Julys.
Elsewhere, the highest temperature recorded in the country was 33 degrees in Phoenix Park, Dublin, the hottest temperature ever recorded since 1881, and the second highest ever temperature ever recorded in the country.
While July has typically been hit-or-miss in terms of good weather since 2016, 2021 and 2022 have been overall sunny, with temperatures and sunshine totals being higher than average.
According to Met Éireann, the third week of July was dominated by a particularly hot period between the 17th and 19th of July.
