A 102-year-old woman from Ballyconnell, Co. Cavan, has become the first person in residential services for Older People in the CHO 1 area to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Una McBarron received the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine at Breffni Care Centre in Ballyconnell this afternoon.
She said it was "a privilege" to get the vaccine and thanked all the staff at the care centre for keeping residents safe from the virus.
Meanwhile, Rae Ann Pasco, a Senior Enhanced Nurse at Breffni Care Centre, became the first Healthcare Worker in the CHO area to receive the vaccine.
She's encouraged everyone to avail of the vaccine when offered the opportunity to do so, adding that "this is an important day in our fight against Covid-19".
Residents and staff will return for their second dose in three weeks.
