The Ballybay to Cloghan Road (L3403) is to be temporarily added to the roads salting list for the winter season.
Fine Gael's Richard Truell made a proposal at this month's meeting of Monaghan County Council that the road be prioritised and added to the list as it leads to the HSE Covid-19 Test Centre.
Other members felt that cases could be made for many roads in the county where HSE staff were based, or where facilities for people with disabilities were, with councillor David Maxwell stating they can't keep adding roads to the list.
However, it was accepted that the use of this road had dramatically increased in recent weeks and in response to the pandemic it should be salted under the Winter Season Maintenance Works for this year only.
