Gasiunas was previously arrested in September 2023 for breaching a deportation order.

A man from Ballinode on remand in the North charged with the attempted abduction of a child in Fermanagh has been refused bail again.

Geldrius Gasiunas with an address in Ballinode, Co Monaghan has been charged with trying to abduct the child in Kinawley on April 22nd this year.

A PSNI detective constable told Enniskillen Magistrates Court the child had been approached by two men in a car, which was noted to have bedding in the rear. During the ordeal, the driver exited the vehicle and tried to grab the child by the shoulder. He "became aggressive" with the child when he refused to accompany them and broke free. Gasiunas was arrested during a police patrol in Enniskillen on June 15th and when questioned about the abduction attempt denied doing "anything bad to the boy" but admitted to being the driver of the car on the day in question.

Gasiunas was previously arrested in September 2023 for breaching a deportation order and the PSNI told Enniskillen Magistrates Court they were opposed to Gasiunas' release on the grounds he may abscond and the risk of re-offending. "He has a criminal record in several jurisdictions and continues to breach his deportation order," the court was told. The judge refused bail again remanding Gasiunas in custody until October 28th.
