A well-known Cavan secondary school has gotten the go-ahead for a major expansion.
Bailieborough Community School is set to benefit from new classrooms, solar panels, and offices. The board of management of the school applied to Cavan County Council to construct a new three-storey extension consisting of 10 new general classrooms, specialist classrooms, and offices. The demolition of the current entrance lobby and office area is also included, which will be replaced with a bigger General Purpose Hall and a new link to the current SEN unit. Two temporary classrooms on-site are set to be demolished to make way for a new ball court, 20 sheltered bike spaces and 90 car parking spaces. The final part of the application calls for the installation of 50 solar panels on the roof of the new extension and a new ESB substation. Planning permission was granted for the development with 19 conditions attached.
