A Co Cavan nursing home was found to be "not compliant" in two areas during an unannounced HIQA inspection.
Fairlawns nursing home was deemed to be not compliant regarding inspection control and fire precautions during the June inspection.
Fairlawns Nursing Home in Bailieborough provides 24-hour nursing care to 37 residents who require long and short-term care.
Residents told inspectors that the nursing home was a pleasant place to live and they felt safe and well cared for by staff.
However, the nursing home was deemed to be "not compliant" regarding infection control and fire precautions.
The inspectors report said "staff were not consistently changing mop heads or cleaning cloths which presented a significant risk of transmission of infection".
In addition to this, hoist slings "were not labelled as cleaned and ready for re-use between each usage".
In response, Fairlawns Nursing Home said "cleaning procedures were reviewed immediately" in order to "reduce any risk of transmission".
It added that spare hoist slings are now "stored in hold all's in a designated area" and "all residents continue to have their own designated sling".
Regarding fire precautions, areas of concern included two fire doors that would not "close automatically in the event of a fire" and fire drills not being completed at regular intervals.
The inspector also deemed the provider "had not ensured there were adequate arrangements in place for the safe evacuation of residents in the event of a fire".
Fairlawns Nursing Home has since installed a "magnet system" to ensure the two fire doors of concern "will automatically close on the detection of a fire".
Fire drills also recommenced and are "continuing every Friday at different times of day to ensure all staff participate with realistic scenarios".
Personal emergency evacuation procedures for residents have also been updated.
