Gardaí in Bailieborough arrested a driver on suspicion of drunk driving after a foot chase.
The incident occurred on Saturday night while Gardaí were on patrol in the Kingscourt area.
According to local Gardaí, the car was travelling at speed on the incorrect side of the road with no lights on.

On seeing the patrol car the driver failed to stop and abandoned the car on a country lane.
A number of glasses containing alcohol were also found in the interior of the car.
As Christmas fast approaches, Gardaí across Cavan and Monaghan are appealing to all drivers not to risk their lives or the lives of others on local roads by drinking and driving.
