Bailieboro Cancer Support Cavan has been awarded €25,000 in funding from Tesco's once-off 25 Years Community Fund initiative in Connacht and Ulster. The grant will help the organisation to purchase a new car to bring cancer patients to and from their treatments.
The 25 Years Community Fund will donate €130,000 in total to 12 groups, with four causes each receiving €25,000. Meanwhile, Tesco became the first major Irish retailer to introduce five days paid leave for victims of domestic violence earlier this month.
The company said it was an important supportive measure for its 13,000 colleagues.
