A new average speed camera has gone live on the N3 in Cavan from midday today.
The roll out of the average speed cameras are located in Mayo and Cavan.
They are located on the N5 in Swinford, Co Mayo and the N3 in County Cavan. The cameras have been put in place on the N3 in Cavan between Kilduff in the north and Billis in the south.
The cameras will detect drivers' speed between two locations along a stretch of road that's prone to crashes. Those caught speeding face a 160 euro fine and 3 penalty points. Garda Commissioner Drew Harris says these cameras will help to save lives
